The average potato is fat-free, and about 110 calories. Bananas are known for potassium, but an average potato has more than a banana. And did you know they’re very high in vitamin C?
Ok, it gets complicated from there because potatoes are often used in dishes with added fat such as cheese, cream, milk, butter, sour cream, or other ingredients that make them high in added fat.
Try using chicken, turkey, or vegetable stock, olive oil, and fresh herbs and garlic before adding fats in dishes like mashed potatoes or potato soup.
