Have you ever looked at the label on a jar or can of pizza sauce? There tends to be loads of salt, sugar and other nonsense in that can along with tomatoes and seasoning. Plus the price is jacked up because they call it pizza sauce and hey! People want pizza sauce!
Here’s an alternative to all of that, and it’s only three ingredients (four if you add Italian seasoning blend). Good quality canned crushed tomatoes and freshly minced garlic are preferred, but make it work for you and use what you’ve got!

Pizza Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
- Minced garlic (I use a Tablespoon but I know most people always add more or less to taste…be my guest!
- 1 – 28 ounce can good crushed tomatoes
- Optional: 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning blend
Instructions
Heat oil over med-low heat until it shimmers. Add garlic, stirring periodically until fragrant (about a minute). Add tomatoes and optional seasoning. Simmer to reduce liquid and reach preferred consistency. Use or save in fridge or freezer for later.
This is easy, but double or triple this recipe and freeze for use within six months.
