I guess it must be Halloween season because last night I dreamed that Anthony Perkins hosted me and several other people for a cooking demo and dinner party. The menu was Sangria Sandwiches and Owl Stew.
He greenlighted me writing about it on my blog. The stew was vegetarian (barley) with sticks to represent the owl. It was not an edible ingredient and was also just optional.
Recipe was dictated by fake Anthony Perkins as follows:
- Water
- Barley
- One-inch lengths of corn on the cob
- Carrots
- Celery
- Onions
- Salt and pepper
- Mushrooms
- Heavy cream
- Sticks (optional)
- Simmer all but the cream and sticks on low for several hours.
- At last 20 minutes before serving, add cream to desired consistency
- Garnish with sticks.
When asked why he called it Owl Stew, he said it is what would be expected of him. Also, he mentioned that he doesn’t mind when people call him Norman because he IS Norman Bates in the eyes of many. Creepy?
I haven’t yet tested the recipe, but I will, and will add photos when I do. I hope you test it too. As for the Sangria Sandwiches, I’m sorry to report that I woke up before they were demonstrated or served. Sounds captivating though, and I will experiment and see if I can figure it out without my imaginary dinner party host. Happy Halloween season!
